Our Mission
The mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is to serve the poor and needy no matter their color, creed or circumstance. We assist the poor and those in need of consolation, seeking out and utilizing every resource available to us. Being mindful of the sanctity and dignity of all, any charitable work that advances those goals is within the mission of the Society.
Our History
St. Vincent de Paul Society of Crook County (SVdP) was formed in 1977 and has been an important part of the local community for over 40 years. We are a private non-profit 501(c)3 Social Service agency supported by individual donations and grants. All donations stay in our local community to serve others regardless of religion, race, place of origin or gender. There are additional St. Vincent Social Service offices located in the Central Oregon region including; Bend, La Pine and Redmond.
Background
In 1977 when a group of local community members began collecting food and other items for delivery to local needy homes St. Vincent de Paul of Prineville was born. Our Food Pantry now serves the community with the help of community sponsors and supports. We have a unique, collaborative relationship with local churches we provide assistance to those in financial crisis, while most of our food is provided by NeighborImpact of Redmond from Oregon Food Bank which is funded by The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), a USDA administered program.
St. Vincent de Paul is overseen by a Board of Directors and our work is supported by a legion of local volunteers.
